Don't these little beauties just bring back some memories of paper dolls...I always loved the expensive ones where the doll was a hard thick cardboard and had many accessories. It appears this one she is visiting France, check out the beret and the twirly dress...
These peticular ones are a little before my time, I think Dolly Dingle must have been big in the day because there are so many of her in every kind of setting, love the little dog with red white and blue bow...so sweet where she is holding the flag....notice the umbrella with the cat handle.
Her little cousin and his costume....cute
I thought it would be a fun project for moms of young girls to print these out and paste the person on cardboard and see if they would be as popular now as they were then....you never know...
Check out Dolly's knees...and look at that incredible head dress that goes with the green dress, wonder what that looks like...she is such an adventure girl..
This one is one of my absolute favorites, you get to decorate the tree with the little tabs, candy canes and snowmen and she has her jamies and her dolly and she is ready for a special evening...Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment, I read them all and if you are not already a follower, I would love to have you...Thanks for coming around the house...

ReplyDeleteI remember the doll being of hard cardboard and on a stand.

Thank you for your sweet and kind comments. Dianntha
ReplyDeleteOh- Aren't those cute, Phyllis? I never saw her before. I used to love paperdolls when I was a kid-yep-the thick cardboard ones with the little stands. They were so much fun. I used to love the ones in Mary Engelbreit's magazine, too. With all the electronic things available for kids today I don't think they had near the fun we did with simple things. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThe burlap decorations I made myself. I purchased it at a Walmart. It is a lot cheaper than purchasing it at JoAnn's Fabrics, you cut the fabric and with the sewing machine I made the zig-zag pattern and at the end I put a square piece into triangles and I then sewed that square piece into the runner and I sewed on the lace fabric to cover up where the runner met the square piece.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog, Yes Oh my God I love Crystal!

DeleteOh these are the cutest ! I Can remember when paper dolls where popular. I had two I played with. It was so much fun changing clothes.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Phyllis for leaving me such a kind comment ! I am not really a fan of the word verification either, so I just changed the settings.I am not sure if it will cause any problems in the future though..But lets try..

I loved paper dolls as a little girl. I grew up in the 70s in Scotland and I loved these, my Mum also played with them when she was young. So cute I love this post. I am hoping over to visit your blog after your lovely comment and I am now following you with GFC, have a great night

Hi Phyllis! Oh, paper dolls were some of my favorite past times as a little girl! These are just darling! I wonder if little girls enjoy paper dolls today?
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me.
be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Sorry Phyllis, but I had to put the word verification back! Immediately I received a lot of spam. I had to delete 7 anonymous comments today that had absolutely nothing to do in my blog. It is more safe to have the word verification to prevent automated software from potential spam blogs by an automated system. I know it is a bit irritating, however I hope you can cope ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day.

Oh Phyl, I just loved playing with my paper dolls. Being an only child I would play with them for hours and make clothes also. What a shame that little girls are glued to their computer and headsets and missing out on paper dolls.

wow what a creative thing, they would look so cute hanging in a little girls room, I would have never thought of that...
DeleteI cut "paper dolls" out of the Sears catalog, kept them in a shoe box beneath my bed...my cousins and I had so much fun with them. :))

The Sears Catalog, wow that could be a post on it's own, was there anything more excitting then getting the sears catalog...lol
DeleteHow cute! I used to love playing with these when I was a little girl...Christine
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis, Yesterday I went to a dollhouse exhibit and there were several houses made of thin cardboard, inhabited by paper dolls! I don't know how they survived so long as my paper dolls are long gone. My daughter who is now 24 did play with them too--she had one of Princess Diana which she loved for the clothes and tiaras! Linda
ReplyDeletewow, those would be fun to see Princess Diana paper dolls, and tiaras, what a cool thing for a collection or to frame...
DeleteI'm right there with you - love paper dolls. These Dolly Dingles are adorable. I have introduced my granddaughters to paper dolls, and they seem to really like them too. Fun post. laurie
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun post! Love the paper dolls! Thanks for visiting my blog! Wouldn't it be fun for a day to turn back time and spend the afternoon cutting out all of these and imagining ourselves in the life of this little cutie? Have a super week...
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable. They do bring back memories.

Oh how fun! Paper dolls were my favorite as a kid! We even made our own. Thank you for the follow and I am happy to be following you back! Off to check out that Peach Pastry recipe!
ReplyDeletePhyllis this is a wonderful, fun post! How I loved my paper dolls and played with them a ton. I had ballerina paper dolls, I think Jane Russell, and the Lennon sisters who sang on Lawrence Welk. My little granddaughter has "paper" dolls but they are heavy cardboard, almost wood and magnitized. No cutting out and no tabs needed. Just not the same!
ReplyDeleteI have seen those too, you are right, just not the same...I bet if someone had showed us then how you could have paper dolls with no tabs, the clothes just stay on we would have thought that was sheer magic...lol..how time flies...
DeletePaper Dolls! I played with them ALL the time as a kid. I love these vintage ones. They're just so cute!
ReplyDeletePhyllis, I remember these paper dolls very well.
ReplyDeleteMy dolls had not such thick cheeks but they smiled. They had a holder behind that was also made of cardboard.
I played with a doll, changed clothes and made some more paper outfits for her. Thank you for remembering!

What a sweet find! Theya re so adorable and they do bring back happy memories!
ReplyDeleteI loved paper dolls when I was a kid, Phyllis. Even now when I see them, I always stop and look at them. I found a fabric that is similar to some of the ones you show here and redid a little suitcase for my granddaughter's dolls with it.
ReplyDeleteCute cute cute!!! I love Dolly Dingle! I still love to play with my paperdolls. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love dolls.
