LET THE FIREWORKS BEGIN

The 4th of July and we are all ready for a few fireworks, although they are not allowed in our city, we can still see some beautiful displays that are close enough and we can almost see Disneyland's display, hooray for the red white and blue...

The buckets on each place setting are from the GW and were .49 each, perfect for holding the sparkly sticks.... The little candy mints are from the Dollar Tree....

Looks like Mr. S has not taken the plastic off the TV....he likes to put it on when not in use in
the evening....

I think that is Uncle Sam that just drove up, watch out for the glasses.....

I have used these glasses several times, only this time I loved the red white and blue sparkly three dimensional star stickers......The straws with the fun sparkly frills are from Pier 1....

I love the pretty blue glass plates, they have bowls and salad plates with the set.....today I have used the famous white Gollum salad plates .....of course you gotta have suckers, you will remember them from the Ballgame table scape, Mr. S. hasn't eaten these yet.....

This table scape is a lot like Memorial Day only more noise, more sparkle and pizazz...I would have loved to have sparklers at each setting and a lot of shooting stars in the background, but
alas, that was not to be, they are not for sale yet so we will just have to pretend......

I remember when I was growing up it was so exciting to save our change and wait and wait until we had a whole dollar then go down to the fireworks stand and buy as much as we could with our money.....we would just kept saving our stash of sparklers and spray cones and snakes and the twirly things that you nail to the tree....it was all so exciting when the night finally came and my dad would line up everything and make sure we sat on the curb so he could light them in the street ( you know they make such a mess)....then all the oohs and ahhhhs, what a feast for the eyes and don't forget the whole clean up ritual....aaahhhhhh for the good old days.....Mr. S. finally took over those duties when the children were small............then they finally banned the sale in our town....boo hoo

The old tool box was a great find some time ago, it has a drawer and works perfect for napkins, extra flatware and mints...... The other wine glasses with the blue stems are from GW and were .25 cents each.....

This is a better shot of the sparkly stars on the glasses, I don't think you can have too much sparkly, do you? The bowls for the ice cream are from TJMaxx and I love the size...

You have seen the Pottery Barn Napkins, purchased a couple of years ago on sale...they are available now only in a more cream color instead of white.....

We all have our warm blankets to keep cozy and we're ready for the sun to go down, come on we're ready......

SPARKLY SPARKLY.......

Aha, lets light those candles, there goes the sun ......

Hooray, Hooray, we're ready......

OHHHHH The blue night skies....

Have a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope your enjoyed your visit and got to reminisce about some of your holiday memories.....Please leave a comment, I read them all and enjoy hearing from you.....Thanks to Susan at between naps on the porch for hosting Table scape Thursday....

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME

Don't forget to turn your music up there are a couple of songs that may be familiar......

Well, it's that time of year again, sunshine, popcorn, peanuts, carmel corn and cherry cokes, what could be better than BASEBALL.....

This tablescape was inspired by these wonderful salt and pepper shakers, then of course these small baseball salad plates that were found later....both are from Marshals....

YUMMY popcorn......The coke glasses are from Dollar Tree....

The napkin rings are rubber balls from the Dollar store......Mr. S. was nice enough to drill large holes in them for my napkins.....the place card stands are tiny rubber balls from the party store that I cut a slit into for the name tags....the tags I drew and cut out from a brown paper bag...I'm sure you all remember the green astro turf from the Easter setting, I love the way the cut out areas make you think of bases, especially with the wooden chargers......

The small popcorn maker was a great find from my friend Mary, she discovered it is a tiny little thrift shop, 3.99 what a deal and it actually works......I thought I might even use it for movie night .....

The napkins are from Christmas and fit just right with all the red white and blue.....

You knew you would be seeing this bicycle again and doesn't it just seem just right for the season....I have to finish this post so Mr. S. can eat all the peanuts, and carmel corn....

You gotta have a little candy and of course Baby Ruth what else, maybe a few suckers.....

Tina was not interested in the whole setting up thing, I think she sees the fluffy gray cat outside and has to visit for awhile....She does love this windowseat......

Enjoy the pictures and I hope they bring back some fun old memories for you too....

This was such a fun tablescape to do, I really wanted the table to be a salute to the game.....

I hope you all enjoyed yourself and maybe got some creative ideas for a tablescape of your own. .......now LETS PLAY BALL.......
Thank you Susan between naps on the porch for hosting Tablescape Thursday...... Phyllis

A TROPICAL SUMMER EVENING

Can you tell we are ready for summer, Pina Coladas, tropical flowers and a warm summer breeze, you gotta love it... Don't forget to turn your music up to put you in the mood, the proper mood hee hee hee.............

YUM YUMMY Pineapple, coconut milk, rum.......yummy

Recipe for 23 oz. light rum 4 oz. coco lopez coconut milk
4 oz pineapple juice
2 cups crushed ice

put all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth, garnish with pineapple and cherry... Sometimes I use TGIF pina colada, it comes in a bottle and it already has the rum and everything in it, just add lots of ice to the blender and maybe a little bit more rum and your good to go.....

I will serve these drinks with straws and ice tea spoons...they are thick and delightful. Since this tablescape is for an early dinner I will put the drinks in the freezer when they start to melt until we are ready for them....not to long though......they should actually be served as soon as they are made...

The napkin rings and napkins are from World Market, I think they are so colorful and You will see them again for sure.... The napkin flower rings feel like a gel, very strange....

The small pink flamingos were my Moms and don't they look right at home.......

The glasses for the drinks are from GW and were 50 cents each.....They are from a cruise ship and have the word Salute on the front of the glass in white......since the drink is white you cannot see the word.....I purchased some stickers to make the glasses more tropical.....I love using stickers from Michaels, they are fun and can be left on the glasses, taken off and used again or tossed out....gotta love that....You may just see these glasses with stars and stripes on them for July 4th and then the word Salute will look perfect....If you want to keep the stickers on the glasses, just wash them by hand and they will be ready for your next Big Hula Night......

The place mats are from Michaels and are large leaves in the silk flower dept. I removed the stems and love the look....Would you believe I bought one a week for 4 weeks so I could use my 40% discount coupon, it was like a quest for me not to pay the full price..... Mr. S. just shakes his head....

I used my ebay champagne bucket for the flowers.....they are from my neighbors bush...

Watch out for those flamingos............

I found the four small plates and the platter at Marshals on the sale table for 2.00 each, love the way they bring the wonderful colors of summer to the table..........

Soon we will have to do a dinner up by the fireplace, thats one of our favorite places...

Sorry I am not writing a lot, I am struggling with this darned carpel tunnel syndrome, still have to get to the hand specialist, hope the pictures tell most of the story....

This is just a shot of the light in the top of the gazebo where our dinner is.......

AH evening time, I have been waiting to join the blue sky watching with susan from naps on the porch...it happens here around 8:25PM wow do those skies turn blue, but not for long....

Lighting a few candles and we are ready, bring on those blue skies......what time do they come in your area?

They have arrived, blue skies all around, a warm subtle breeze and don't forget our Pina Coladas.............

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit and maybe got some inspiration to create your own tropical summer evening.....Please leave a comment I read them all and love hearing from you....If you have any questions I will be happy to answer as soon as I can....Thank you susan @ between naps on the porch for hosting Tablescape Thursday and Marty @ a stroll thru life with tabletop Tuesday and the Style Sisters for Centerpiece Wed.
