TABLESCAPE STORAGE

Welcome to the New year, I guess it always has to start with a little storing of all the decorations put back in their containers and put in the attic of the garage...(I did want to say to all of my friends in the colder states, I left the snow on the blog to make you feel at home...however here in sunny southern Ca. today is was warm and almost in the eighties)....sorry for that....

This is part of my side of the garage, except for the tools and the tv, those however are religated to Mr. S.

This is more of my side, I designed the cupboard doors to be sliders so no matter if the car is in the garage I will never have a problem opening and closing the doors ....brilliant huh..

This is the rest of my side of the garage, but as we discussed not the tv or cabinet below. I will show you his side, just so you won't think I have to much....would I do that, never...not to Mr. S.

As you can see the car goes in the garage, his Suv is in the driveway, too tall for garage anyway.
He has a couple of chairs and watches some tv when he is working outside and likes to smoke an occasional cigar.....

This is the rest of Mr. S's side of the garage with the work bench and large drawers with cupboards below......Now back to my dish storage..... The carpet is a kind of indoor outdoor and is glued to the concrete floor....Nothing seems to bother the carpet, not even the car.....

I am sure I need more shelves and a whole redo of the inside, wow maybe one of the grandkids will take pity and come and help me soon.....

There is a nice sangria jar in the back, I think a great Mexican feast with fresh sangria, MMMmm, I love the summer time, it is the perfect for celebration outside...

The dishes on the left are Jungle dishes with monkeys all over them, love them and will do a tablescape soon with monkeys everywhere.......your gonna love it.....next to those dishes are some Easter dishes I found on sale a couple of months ago.

You can get a better look at the Easter dishes, they are so darned cute....

Place mats and chargers, I use these alot in the summer outside....

oh my it is starting to look a little disarranged maybe just messy, ya thats what it is ...

I think the plates are stacked to high, must have another shelf to relieve the pressure on those poor plates......

Many of these items are gifts from friends who know I love dishes, they sure are in need of an organizer....that will be another post...

Remember those little red egg cups and the cow cups, cute cute they sure made the breakfast table sing...

You may be wondering where all the Christmas stuff goes, it goes in the attic in the garage, Mr. S. had a door put in that pulls down the steps and he puts all the decorations up there....he has a small little tiny workshop outside the garage for smelly oily greasy things....

I don't have a large home with alot of space for hutches and credenzas to house alot of extra dishes, so these cabinets in the garage are just ideal for me....Of course my dishes I use every day are in the kitchen along with some more valuable pieces...anyway this works for us.....I would love to know what works for you, where do you put your fun pieces when not in use, I know Susan had a wonderful friend show us her dish room wowowowow, she had the most beautiful things and the ideal place to store all of them... but I do know lots of you have unique places and tips for storing your tablescaping fun pieces, I would sure love to see them..... I'll be back soon with an organized storage cabinet, maybe a new shelf....

Thanks for hanging AROUND THE HOUSE, thanks susan @betweennapsontheporch for hosting
Please leave a comment, I love to hear from all of you......

  2. How clever and what great storage! Our house is small but we have utilized storage to the max! Am redoing some of my cabinets and cupboards . . . finding a better arrangement so that things are easy to find and out of the basement so I don't have to carry things up and down the stairs.

  3. So pretty and compared to me it is extremely organized. Really I think it looks great just like it is. It was fun seeing things I had seen in previous tablescapes!

  7. This is a garage? Flat screen and carpet? Wow! I am just starting to think about how/where I'm going to store my dishes. Now that I'm playing with them all the time and adding to them...I need a better system. I think I'm going to use one of the basement bedrooms...put up some shelving. We have a few more bedrooms than we are using these days...so I think a dish room is a great idea, hubby just shakes his head!

  11. Thanks for showing us where you store all those dishes, Phyllis. I think I want to go shop in your garage, lol. Nice! I guess you do not use it for vehicles huh? I started using a walk in closet in our garage too for a dish storage since I am running out of room in the house. I'll show it one of these days....Christine

  12. And you've been collecting dishes how long?

Thanks for visiting my blog. My husband will be envious when he see your garage. But . . . we are planning on getting new doors (that will actually work) and cleaning and painting ours this spring so maybe it will give him some ideas.

  13. I want to live in your garage!! I had to go back and reread and look at the pictures to be sure you said "garage". This is fantastic in so many ways ~ the use of storage and space; the neatness of it ~ I just love the cabinetry. This is a great idea for your dishes. Love it!

  14. My husband now has garage envy!! Our garage is organized but currently the floor is covered with dirt and salt from the snowy roads...and the current temp. is 3 degrees so a little cold for TV watching. But a girl (and her husband) can dream :-)

  22. HI Phyllis - Mary sent me your blog. I LOVE it. It is very inspiring. The garage and storage is fabulous! I can not show Shaun as we are still a year or so out on our new garage. I do need the sliding doors - nice touch.

  23. Phyllis, this is fantastic. And, your sliding door idea was brilliant.

I have dishes in the kitchen, in the china cabinet, in a chest in the living room and on shelves in the coat closet in the hall. In my next life, I want a large walk-in pantry.

  24. What an awesome garge and storage space! I'm embarrassed to say I can hardly walk into my 2 car garage!

  25. Wow I wondered where you keep all your goodies. You sure you really need all that? I ask because I am starting Trade Day Tuesdays at my blog. Come over and check it out maybe we can trade. I love your storage btw and how smart to make the sliding doors.
Well come over and visit. See you for the next tablescape. Hopefully I'll be joining this week.

  30. Wow, I'm so jealous! You actually have a pretty garage! And my hubby would call your hubby's portion of the garage a "man cave."

I wish my dishes were as organized as yours. We have open, restaurant-type shelves in an extra bedroom and it looks very messy. We have to leave the door open as it is also the cat's room. I would love to have everything behind closed doors, as you do.

I collect tureens and couldn't help noticing your pretty, spring-like tureen. Love it!

  31. Okay, if I posted pics of my garage, (and it's only 5 years old), let's just say I'd never get a blog visitor again. That is the best looking garage I have ever seen. You could just leave the dishes where they are and eat out there! Seriously, your garage is great, but your collection of dishes is remarkable. I love Easter dishes too and always find the best Easter collections at TJ Maxx and thrift stores. For some reason people don't want their bunnies. I scoop them up - - cheap! Since we're fessing up I'll admit I have a set of china stored in the bathroom closet in my kids' bathroom. The closet is soooo large and they can only reach the bottom three shelves anyway so I have the top two shelves stored to the ceiling with china and some silver pieces. It's all in original boxes so I don't worry about the gross factor and an added bonus is a thief would never think to look in the boxes above the cotton balls and band aids now would they? Great post!

One other thing, if you don't already follow Michael at Designs by Gollum, I think you would LOVE LOVE LOVE her blog and I'm pretty sure she did a post in 2009 about a redo of her "dish room" or pantry. In any event, she has beautiful and elegant tablescapes that you would love at http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com

I love your cabinets with sliding doors...great idea..I was just discussing with my hubbie the need I have for more dish storage..(of course he thinks I should just quit buying dishes) I can't -I'm addicted and love a beautiful table. Love your post...and thanks for the snow effect...It's 14 degrees today in Oklahoma City!

  36. Oh My Gosh Phyllis...
Sweetie I have never seen such a beautiful garage. I am like you I would storing my dishes and so many things. That furniture in the garage looks like a fancy room to me. I am surprised you get to park your car in there at all. What I wouldn't give for that much storage. So nice and clean. I love it.

You stopped by tonight and mentioned that my button was disabled. Only my shoe graphic is disabled. With mine, you highlight the code and copy it and then paste the code into your HTML gadget. (It has a little line of instructions underneath it.) I would be so honored to have my button on your beautiful blog. Many thanks sweetie. Country hugs, Sherry

  37. Wow! I am rarely envious...but this time...
After spending much of today trying to reorganize horrible shelves in my garage so I could store the Christmas decorations, I was dreaming of the day I could move all the boys' junk out. After all, they have all been gone at least 2 years. I'll just have to show my husband these photos. Maybe he'll get the idea....

  42. Oh my gooooooness, Phyllis.....WOW! I am soooo green with envy....I know, sinful, isn't it? Oh, if only my garage could look like this. Let me just say.....it DOESN'T.....mine is sooooo scary. I try to keep it organized, but just when I get everything all orderly a holiday, garage sale, or something else comes along and it's chaos again. I can't even imagine having such a glorious space.

Thank you for your sweet comments....I'm keeping a list of girlie's blog buttons and I'm going to add them to my blog on my regular page as soon as I can get the other stuff moved to bloggie #2.

We have one of those outdoor storage/tuff shed type houses for the Christmas stuff and anything else. Enjoyed the tour! Hugs!

  48. Houston, we have a problem!

I want to have your garage. Not because I have lots of dishes that need storing {cause I don't}, but it is so uncluttered and my hubby needs workspace. Currently we have tiny paths to my car and around the golf cart. Oh my, I'm so ready for spring so that we can purge.

Thanks for sharing, I think ;-)

P.S. I agree with your idea of clear the clutter tablescape this time of year. Chirstmas is so overwhelming with stuff that everyone needs to take a break from it this time of year.

  49. Wow, Phyllis! I LOVED looking at all of the stuff in your cabinets! Ha-ha! I know that must sound odd, but my house is SO TINY and I don't have a lot of room and you are so lucky to have the cabinets in your garage to store everything. PLUS, your "garage" is the most beautiful I have ever seen! I am envious (but a GOOD envious!) of all of your lovely items, AND storage space. You also have a lovely home (I love hydrangeas too!) and I am looking forward to coming back to your blog, this was my first time seeing it. I just started my blog in Dec., and it is still VERY LAME. I still haven't gotten "into" it yet, but I hope SOMETIME in 2010 to post pics of my little house. I am in the middle of doing some redecorating/buying some new curtains, new knick-knacks, etc. Anyway, love your blog!
    Best regards,
