A TINY HINT OF EASTER / MY FAVORITE DISHES

Now you know that you hardly noticed Mr.Rabbit hangin out......

Yummy yummy.... your not even hardly noticing the cold soup.....

You just know the star of this post are these beautiful plates...I watched them in the back of the store Steinmart for about 6 months....I loved the beautiful bold design however I could not recover from the 36.00 for each plate price tag.....over time I watched them go down to 24.oo each...too much, then down to 12.00 each, with the sales they were having I ended up finally paying 4.50 each for 8 plates.....Even when I checked out, the sales lady said "do you even know the incredible deal you got on these plates" I said I know I know hee hee hee.... They feel very special to me......

They are 12" plates and they feel like silk.....

The white salad plates and napkin rings are Lennox. I love the way the plates feel....

I think these will be perfect in the summertime out on the deck with the wonderful blue and white, what do you think?

Now who would have thought a year later I would find these coordinating napkins at TJ Maxx, they are by Badgley Mishka, I also have them in black and white, I used them with the Valentines day tray...I think I mislabeled them on that post....oh well The napkin rings are Lenox...

I think I will hunt through alot of posts I am sure one of you have a great cold soup recipe, I am practicing for summer......

The soup is gazpacho soup with lime and croutons it's from Trader Joes, they make the best soups....Dinner will be Broiled chicken with wild rice and Green beans....yummmmm

I know its way too early for Easter but what can it hurt if he just sits around...... He was a great find at the GW for 7.99, yay for me and no chips, he's at home now....

The small blue covered dish was my moms, I don't know what you call it, do you? It is heavy and has shell designs on it and it is a foggy frosty kind of glass, the feet of the dish are fish very pretty, I am hoping someone knows exactly what it is called.....You all are so smart about that kind of thing, I know you'll know...Maybe my friend Gloria will know...she is at Happy to be ......

The silver candle sticks were another GW find at 3.00 each, what a great find and I love the way they look with the striking dishes....Spring is coming can you tell....

I used the small white pitchers as water pitchers, no individual ones this time.......

Thanks for stopping by and hanging AROUND THE HOUSE, I hope you saw some things you liked and maybe got some ideas or maybe just had an enjoyable visit knowing you don't have to do the dishes and put away all of the glassware....Please leave a message and let me know what you think, I always enjoy reading all of the comments and love it when you decide to follow.....Phyllis

  5. Phyllis, this is such a gorgeous table. I saw those dishes at Steinmart too and agreed, couldn't make myself pay that price for them. You were a saint to wait and find them on sale. Then of all things to find the matching napkins, that is just perfect. I LOVE the little bunny tureen. He is just precious. I don't know what the precious blue dish is that was your mothers, but my mom had a green one very similar that she used to keep her jewelry in. She always called it her trinket box. Your tablescape and the menu are just perfect. Hugs, Marty

That frosted blue covered bowl is so perfect for this tablescape! Interesting that the feet are shaped like fish. I would have thought that the dish was a covered candy or nut dish ???

  19. What a gorgeous, gorgeous table you set. You are talented, girl! You got some great bargains, too. I take it GW is Goodwill? Love the bunny pottery. You mentioned cold soup -- I posted a pureed vegetable soup today that you can serve hot or cold. Served cold, make sure to plop a dollop of plain yogurt (or sour cream) in the middle. It's yummy.

Love your site! I'm comin' back! :)

  22. I love the aqua on the plates and napkins. It's so lucky that you found the coordinating napkins. The bunny tureen was a steal. And, hey, I leave bunny stuff out year-round, so it's not too early to have him out.

By the way, hubby and I fixed your white chocolate martinis last Saturday when we had another couple over. Everyone agreed that they were better than dessert!

  26. Oh you did a wonderful job on this table! LOVE LOVE your plates and can't believe you found the napkins to match. Must have been meant to be! Love your whites with the blue. The rabbit dish is just precious and the blue dish from your mom is exquisite! It looks like a special piece for sure, but I'm not up on what it's called.

  27. Another gorgeous table...I love the blue/turquoise plates and what a find on the napkins. I have a similiar bunny tureen but mine doesn't have the basket weave bottom and no handles also I have one with a rooster top.

Your Mom's covered dish is beautiful. I'm not sure what it's called but would venture a guess as a trinket dish or box.

I hope to have my blog up and running as soon as I get moved out of this tiny apartment and hope to take part in the Thursday tablescapes. I'm wishing there was two Thursdays in a week because you all have such beautiful tables.

  33. It is not too early to be thinking Easter and your Blue and White plates definitely say Spring and Easter to me. Love that you said they feel like silk. Being a sewer, I feel everything, but never thought about the feel of China. I will from now on. Love the GW bunny and candesticks. I never find good stuff there like everyone else does. Gotta go more often, I think.

  36. Those dishes are simply scrumptious! You have such a knack for photographing your lovely tables. I wish I could happen upon a white rabbit. All I've seen so far are multi-colored ones. The white one is very elegant.

I love the freshness of the colors and the drama you've created! Congratulations on the fantastic buy on the plates at Steinmart. I love all the silver you've used (but I'm a sucker for shiny!).

  41. I am so excited that you invited me to your blog. What a treat! So fun to make a find like your pretty plates but to actually get a bonus of a great price...lucky you. I became a follower of your blog. Thanks for signing up with me.

  42. Dang Woman....I want to go shopping with YOU!! It was serendipity for you to not only grab those gorgeous plates on sale but then later find the matching napkins too. WTG!!
They remind me of the Hawaiian applique technique on quilts.

I need to find a better GW because I never find such wonderful items like those candlesticks or that charming bunny. Lucky you!

I have a fantastic recipe for homemade Gazpacho soup that was given to me when I lived in FL. I will let you know when I post it. You'll ♥ it & it doesn't take much time to make, either.

    fondly,

  44. Hi, friend...thanks for stopping by.
Yes, Dunkin Donut is more expensive..I hate that...but I, myself, think it's worth it. Now, I like a light roast..some like a dark roast that is much stronger. Breakfast blend is good for me. Coffee is like most every thing else,...some like one brand but others don't like it. I've never liked Folgers and some of my friends swear by it...so..yes, I love Dunkin Donut...if you try it, I hope you like it..just be sure to get the blend you prefer....:)

  51. Love those SM plates, matching napkins & napkin rings. That bunny tureen is my favorite! (Jealous :) I do know that your mom's dish is considered satin glass. What I always do to find stuff like that out, is go to Ebay and search vintage (or antique) blue glass or dish or sugar bowl. You may not find it today, but eventually someone will list it with the correct name. Big book stores also carry guides to antique glass you could thumb through until you find it.
