This is the mantle before the makeover. I usually change it for the seasons. I am having a hard time this year deciding just what to do for it. I sure wish I had a wonderful winter scene for the picture change...no such luck...I always have the picture leaning instead of hanging to make it easier for me to change...
Another picture of the mantle before the seasonal makeover. My husband says the picture looks like autumn to him, he may be right, I just wanted something more colorful...you know just a little warmer...
I waited a long time to have this wonderful mantle built, and I still love it just as much. The wreath on the front reminds me of the wreath on the center of the bed frame , you may remember from the bedroom makeover.....
Maybe I will just look for it awhile and see what happens. By the time I decide on something different, it will be time to set up something for Christmas.....
I Hope you had an enjoyable visit, I'm so happy you like to come Around the House...Please feel free to leave a comment, I read them all and always love to hear from you....Thanks Susan @between naps on the porch for hosting today
You have done a beautiful job on your mantel. This looks wonderful. Certainly looks like Autumn! You have set a Autumn atmosphere with gorgeous Fall colors.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be able to see what you have shared on your nice blog,

ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful creative way about you. I love the transformation, right in front of my eyes. The birds are very interesting... Beautiful. Your dinner looked wonderful also. YUM
It all came together beautifully. I love the quail, acorns and leaves. So fall.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great, your birds are awesome ! Thanks for stopping by !
ReplyDeleteLove the birds! They really make your mantle unique!
ReplyDeleteLove the Fall Mantle! Thanks for stopping by Double Delight...I will definitely be back to check out some more of your goodies:)
ReplyDeleteTamera@doubledelight
Your mantel is just beautiful and the Autumn decor is stunning! Very nice job!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and following my little blog. I just started following yours too. Oh my goodness you have a really awesome sense of decorating style. I can't wait to see what you do next. LOVE the mantle!
Love your pretty changes -- you just "went to town"!
ReplyDeleteNice changes to the mantle! Your photos are proof that Fall has arrived!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis, Guess what! I bought a tripod tonight but your looks fancier...I may take mine back and go to Best Buy. :-) I didn't know they came in digital...gotta check that out! Your photos are stunning, btw! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is gorgeous! I LOVE wreaths so I absolutely love the design. If I ever get around to getting my "library" built, I may have my mantel built from scratch...so yours is giving me some great ideas!
Love your new fall vignette...the little quail are adorable with those little tuffs on top of their heads. :-) Cute, cute!
Hi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThat mantel of yours is so gorgeous, I love the wreath and all the detailing. The fall scape is really pretty too, I think the new painting works well - I like the colors. But you're right, by the time you're really sure about it, it will be time for the Christmas decor!
Thanks for visiting, hope you'll stop by again.
Have a wonderful week.
XO
Heidi
Hello! Nice job on updating your mantle with fall touches. I think I like the leaf pic best but it just fits my style a little more. They both look good - you have to go with what you love! Thanks for stopping over - please stop over again!!
ReplyDeleteYou really do have a beautiful mantle. I like you colors in the picture that you have up now, although the other one really did look "fallish", but this one has the right colors. The whole thing looks really nice! Hugs, Cindy S.
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis! Thanks for visiting my blog this evening! I love the picture you wound up putting on your mantle and the decor looks fabulous! I like how you put the one glass holder on top of books and the quails are a cute touch.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that your mantle looks absolutely beautiful and oh so autumny. I think you should leave the picture with the store fronts and the prettly little red doors. It think it ties in better with all the reddish-orange you have on the mantle. By the way, your mantle is gorgeous. I LOVE IT. Great job.
Blessings and Smiles,
♥Ana
What a lovely fall makeover for your mantle. I love the birds. Tripods are a wonderful thing! How sweet of your hubby :)
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis -- gorgeous mantel! It's so pretty, I wouldn't change anything ... except I might try the first picture, the leaf one (which I really love) and see if you like how that looks, better.
ReplyDeleteI like the second pic, but the only thing that jumps out at me is the blue in that picture -- I think with all the beautiful fall color in your mantel decor, that the very neutral and calm leaf print might work. But -- you are the best judge of that!
I have to admit, that driving around Newport Beach and Balboa, and seeing beach houses decked out in autumn decor was a hoot!
Because our daughter is in CA now for at least another 4 years, we'll be frequent visitors.
Best ... Cass
PS forgot to say, I love how you elevated one of the hurricanes with books! :-)
ReplyDeleteQuail, pheasant and acorns!!!! Gorgeous combination (amongst the other items.) so warm and inviting!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis....I like the leaf picture ...to me it does look more fall. But your mantle is lovely either way and I do love all the roping on it. Thanks for visiting today. Talk to you soon!!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThe branch picture looks fall/winter to me. That's a gorgeous mantel and you've done a super job in deocorating it for fall!
Manuela
Have to say I'm with your hubby on the picture. Love the leaf and branch one for fall and winter. I just love your mantle!! The warm colors of fall are picked up with the sprays and garlands you put on top. Those little quail and pheasant look real. My dog Rocky just might be standing there pointing if I had those!! You'll love a tripod. Makes life easier!!!
ReplyDeletePhyllis,
ReplyDeleteYour mantle looks just beautiful! What a perfect look for fall. Your photos are simply stunning. How do you get then so large without lots of pixel destortion(sp)? What a sweet Hubby to get you a tripod.

ReplyDeleteI love your mantel with our without the quail ... but since I love game birds .. I probably add more quail! All your posts are beautiful ... your home certainly is ready to entertain with a big fall gathering! Thanks for dropping by to visit with me.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful blog. Your photos are amasing. Is it that new tripod? I added your blog to follow.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the brown leaf print.
I love the fall tablescape on an older post. You said you were looking for large acorns. I saw large wooden ones at Pier 1 last week.

Hi Phyllis! It's so nice to meet you and how gorgeous is your Fallen mantle! Oh, what a beautiful surround and I do love the Fallness you've added to it. What a beautiful home you have. I want to see more! :)

It's GORGEOUS!!! Really Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI need to get a tripod! Maybe I'll head over to Best Buy too!
Phyllis-thank you for visiting me, and following. I will be doing the same. I'm very new to blogging and I love it when I meet someone who has a style I admire. Your mantle is beautiful. I like both pictures, although I think the lonely leaf is a bit more "fall". They both look nice.
ReplyDeleteSue
Your decorations and your hubby are adorable. Love the architecture of your mantel and the way you styled it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
Thanks for sharing your fall mantle makeover. I never know what to do with my mantle, so most of the time I do nothing. You have inspired me to try something new.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is gorgeous! Pop over for a visit. Have a snuggly warm eve. TTFN ~Marydon
ReplyDeleteWow! What beautiful fall decorations. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe mantel is so pretty and I loved it both ways. I once did a job where the client wanted me to get 4 painting to change the mantel with the seasons. For winter I got a painting of a horse in the snow, it was so beautiful. It would look so pretty on your mantel. Welcome to my blog, I like it here and will be back often. So don't be a stranger!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a sweet comment!

Your mantle looks beautiful! Very creative decor! I especially love the books with the hurricane!
ReplyDeletePhyllis, your mantel is already for fall! I like the picture you decided on. It offers more interest to this display with its colorful scene. You did a great job of pulling all this together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by for a visit and leaving such a nice comment. To answer your question about my roosters. I've liked roosters (and many other animals for that matter) all my life. I'm a bit of a Francophile, and roosters are definitely a part of French culture. So I've added these through the years when I see one that calls out to me. Friends and family have gifted me with some of these guys through the years as well.
Happy Fall to you!
Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteYour fireplace is lovely. I love to lean pictures also because I am terrible at lining things up right on the wall and it leaves less room on the mantle to worry about decorating. I am going to keep watching what you do with your mantle because I have serious designing problems. I don't lack STUFF, just bad at arranging things cohesively...
I will be back, I 'm off on a trip. Love your blog and wanted to thank you for visiting!!
xoxo
Jane
So Beautiful!! I really like your idea of leaning the picture to make it easy to change!
ReplyDeleteHave a great one...Janell
Hi Phyllis,

Come by and visit me soon. You're always welcome!
~Happy Fall! ~Melissa :)
Wow - what a beautiful house you have! I love the new mantle decorations. I rarely change my decor for the seasons, with the expection of Christmas, of course. I think, though, I'll see what I have and change some things around this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, puts me in the Autumn mood and reminds me I have a Fall wreath up in the attic. I looked at your post about your master bedroom redo and found that we've got your cat's sister at our house. They almost look like twins, but our kitty has a white mustache. She just adopted us a couple months ago, some neighbors moved away and left the poor baby behind. I'm off to look around a little more and get acquainted.
~Tracie
