Seasonal Mantle Makeover

This is the mantle before the makeover. I usually change it for the seasons. I am having a hard time this year deciding just what to do for it. I sure wish I had a wonderful winter scene for the picture change...no such luck...I always have the picture leaning instead of hanging to make it easier for me to change...

Another picture of the mantle before the seasonal makeover. My husband says the picture looks like autumn to him, he may be right, I just wanted something more colorful...you know just a little warmer...

I waited a long time to have this wonderful mantle built, and I still love it just as much. The wreath on the front reminds me of the wreath on the center of the bed frame , you may remember from the bedroom makeover.....

I just love the rope detail...

I can't believe my husband bought me this wonderful gift, boy will this make my life easier. It was from Best Buys and was 39.00. I am so excited to use it....

Yeah for husbands....

This is a lot of the stuff I am going to use on the mantle. My sister Bobbie gave me some items I have had for some time and some things are new...

I especially love the acorns, as you know from my other postings....
These are gonna be nice with the leaves to bring that autumn look I think it came out looking similar to what I was thinking. I like the little quail standing around and looking for food....
I'm just not sure if I should change the picture back to the leaf picture or leave this one? Let me know what you think....

Maybe I will just look for it awhile and see what happens. By the time I decide on something different, it will be time to set up something for Christmas.....

I Hope you had an enjoyable visit, I'm so happy you like to come Around the House...Please feel free to leave a comment, I read them all and always love to hear from you....Thanks Susan @between naps on the porch for hosting today

  14. Hi Phyllis, Guess what! I bought a tripod tonight but your looks fancier...I may take mine back and go to Best Buy. :-) I didn't know they came in digital...gotta check that out! Your photos are stunning, btw! :-)
Your mantel is gorgeous! I LOVE wreaths so I absolutely love the design. If I ever get around to getting my "library" built, I may have my mantel built from scratch...so yours is giving me some great ideas!
Love your new fall vignette...the little quail are adorable with those little tuffs on top of their heads. :-) Cute, cute!

  15. Hi Phyllis,
That mantel of yours is so gorgeous, I love the wreath and all the detailing. The fall scape is really pretty too, I think the new painting works well - I like the colors. But you're right, by the time you're really sure about it, it will be time for the Christmas decor!
Thanks for visiting, hope you'll stop by again.
    Have a wonderful week.

  16. Hello! Nice job on updating your mantle with fall touches. I think I like the leaf pic best but it just fits my style a little more. They both look good - you have to go with what you love! Thanks for stopping over - please stop over again!!

  17. You really do have a beautiful mantle. I like you colors in the picture that you have up now, although the other one really did look "fallish", but this one has the right colors. The whole thing looks really nice! Hugs, Cindy S.

  19. Good morning Phyllis,
I just wanted to tell you that your mantle looks absolutely beautiful and oh so autumny. I think you should leave the picture with the store fronts and the prettly little red doors. It think it ties in better with all the reddish-orange you have on the mantle. By the way, your mantle is gorgeous. I LOVE IT. Great job.

    Blessings and Smiles,

  21. Hi Phyllis -- gorgeous mantel! It's so pretty, I wouldn't change anything ... except I might try the first picture, the leaf one (which I really love) and see if you like how that looks, better.

I like the second pic, but the only thing that jumps out at me is the blue in that picture -- I think with all the beautiful fall color in your mantel decor, that the very neutral and calm leaf print might work. But -- you are the best judge of that!

I have to admit, that driving around Newport Beach and Balboa, and seeing beach houses decked out in autumn decor was a hoot!

Because our daughter is in CA now for at least another 4 years, we'll be frequent visitors.

    Best ... Cass

For winter I got a painting of a horse in the snow, it was so beautiful. It would look so pretty on your mantel. Welcome to my blog, I like it here and will be back often. So don't be a stranger!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and leaving such a nice comment. To answer your question about my roosters. I've liked roosters (and many other animals for that matter) all my life. I'm a bit of a Francophile, and roosters are definitely a part of French culture. So I've added these through the years when I see one that calls out to me. Friends and family have gifted me with some of these guys through the years as well.
    Happy Fall to you!

  56. Phyllis,

Your fireplace is lovely. I love to lean pictures also because I am terrible at lining things up right on the wall and it leaves less room on the mantle to worry about decorating. I am going to keep watching what you do with your mantle because I have serious designing problems. I don't lack STUFF, just bad at arranging things cohesively...

I will be back, I 'm off on a trip. Love your blog and wanted to thank you for visiting!!

  60. Hi Phyllis,
Very pretty, puts me in the Autumn mood and reminds me I have a Fall wreath up in the attic. I looked at your post about your master bedroom redo and found that we've got your cat's sister at our house. They almost look like twins, but our kitty has a white mustache. She just adopted us a couple months ago, some neighbors moved away and left the poor baby behind. I'm off to look around a little more and get acquainted.
