HALLOWEEN VIGNETTES

There is so much Halloween inspiration around this year, it is hard to keep up with all the goulie fun projects, I picked a few I thought you might like...These little skeletons are from the Dollar Tree in a package for 4 for 1.00...
I think these bowls are from Michaels last year...The napkin rings are from Ebay and the black chargers are from the Dollar tree...gotta love that store...Looks like there was a lot of picture taking during my house sitters stay here this year....They do love pictures...
The stemware is black onyx from Zgallery, they are a birthday present from Mr. S. this year, he says there is another surprise coming, ohhhh I can't wait....The candelabras are from Michaels...
The graphics on all the pillows are from Graphic Fairy of course, she has everything fun for the season and they are all free downloads...she's the best...
These are Halloween books I remade from tuts on Pinterest, they are so much fun ...Basically the raised areas on the books are from a glue gun tracing the words, then mod podging over with tissue paper and painting, or antiquing..This was a project I loved because you can actually use all those outdated reference books cluttering your garage....
This one was so much fun, I especially love it if the books are small or really fat and unusual...
I think the rats and mice have taken over the living room, they are everywhere...
This was my first book, just a large old book, I opened it in the center and glued downloaded skeleton pictures over the pictures in the book, then I sprayed it with a light bronzer to darken it..after it all dried I used an  emery board and just kept rubbing in all kinds of spots over the words...add some painted Dollar Tree bugs to lay on top and you are good to go...lots of fun and felt so creative....
This is a download from the computer and put into a frame, I think the frame really sets the pic off and makes it look so important...The drippy candles are glue gun glue of inexpensive night light Christmas window candles that plug in, from Amazon I think they were 5.00 each...found somewhere on Pinterest the directions,, very cool..
This is a Dollar Tree black shiny spider I painted with craft paints and antiqued a little to make him look a little more lifelike...
Ekeeee
Is her feet on that chair....
I just love the bright orange, don't you
Such spooky fun books....

This wreath was a blast, just a Walmart wreath 3.99 ...snakes and worms from Dollar tree put on wreath then the whole thing is sprayed with flat black paint...so effective....

These are four little cupcakes purchased at a wholesale company in our area...
I wish I could eat one of these, however not to happen as they are faux....
ohhhhhhh
The skeleton plates are a fun project as well, clear plates with cut out skeleton head from paper napkins and modge podge on the bottom of the plate then modge podge torn pages from an old book over everything on the bottom..they.make cute cookie plates...
Ohhhh so scary those spiders.
Love this pillow, it is a happy one...
Thanks for visiting Around the House, I would love for you to leave a message and if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them...Thank you for all the wonderful comments on the HOUSE SITTERS...I think they will come back again next year, I hope so...  betweennapsontheporch  romantichome   astrollthrulife  boogieboardcottage commona-myhouse  thededicatedhouse   thetablescaper  thriftydecorchick   carolynshomework howsweetthesound   ivyandelephantsnominimalisthere  savvysouthernstyle justdipitinchocolate  designsbygollum

  10. So much creativity in this post, Phyllis. I love what you did with the books and those electric candle sticks. Your pillows are great too! And the glass plates with the skulls are great! I saw the plate under your place setting and was going to ask where you got that great plate, and then I scrolled down and read that you made it! It is genius. Thank you for all of the inspiration. I enjoyed your house sitters while they were visiting, but I'm glad you are back. They were real party animals, so I hope your house didn't suffer any damage. I heard that the police were called once, but when your sitters came to the door, the police got scared and ran! laurie

  16. Phyllis!

Phew, I made it out of your post in one piece! Thank goodness, because I 'was dying' to tell you that even though I was scared silly, I DIDN'T want to leave! You are one talented decorator, my friend! Your creativity, (and energy!), are evident in every corner of this black and orange Halloween Haven! The vignette on your sideboard is my favourite for its textures, balance and styling and the spooky books are just so original! Okay, I'm going back in...despite the spiders, (my biggest fear!), because it's all just HORRIBLY addictive!

  30. Yes Phyllis, there is a lot of inspiration out there in blogland and tons of it comes from you! Love your festive home in the b&w with pops of orange! You are so creative! Love the uses of glue gun glue. Would not have thought of that. And yes, I passed up the spider at the $1 store because he looked to fake. Not as clever as you are to think to paint him. I love, love the books! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
