Come on out to the Parrot Jungle...watch out for the mosquitos and jungle pests, and don't forget those parrots flying around overhead.......because they were my inspiration...This was such a fun tablescape to do...I have had these dishes for the longest time, knowing this is what I was going to do...just kind of waiting for some inspiration...
Once a year here in Fullerton, Ca. Orange County, we have visitors for about a week or two...Parrots......Huge, noisey, beautiful parrots...not just some parrots ....many parrots...They were just the right inspiration for this tablescape....
I found these cute salad plates at the Goodwill last year, four for 3.00...they are sakura, jungle animals, I would love to have the dinner plates that go with them, however when I looked them up on the internet they were 41.00 each...ouch..so pretty though..each salad plate has a different animal picture and they are so vivid...
I actually made the napkin rings by breaking off the little parrots of the cheese spreaders and glueing them with gorilla glue to these plain white ceramic rings...
You will notice throughout the table scape four different brass monkeys sitting around and they have four different poses...so cute.they are from the old Linens and Things store maybe 4 years ago....The zebra chargers I found on line and the plates on top of those are a set of monkey dishes I purchased at Ross years ago piece by piece when I could find them...The Parrot cups and salt and pepper shakers are from Pier 1...2 years ago...I was there the other day and wow have you been there lately, their colors are just so beautiful the entire store is such a color feast for the eyes....
Ahhhh Mr. Elephant...
King Kong is keeping an eye on everything.....
ahhhhhh So sweet
The Candle holder was a gift from my friend Mary and the Gorilla was a gift from my sister Bobby...she knew I wanted to do a jungle tablescape someday...
The Margarita glasses are from the Goodwill store last year ( It sounds like I haven't shopped in years, huh)
Doesn't it look like King Kong is trying to pick up the parrot pepper shaker....lol
Those little monkeys are crazy...
The pillow covers are actually placemats I made many years ago and I have attached them to some white throw pillows...
I like this salad plate with the sweet garaffe and Big parrot looking thing....
I think the flatware is from Ross or Marshals not sure....
Lots of parrots in this shot...
Well, it is time to close the door on this tablescape, just enjoy the wonderful pictures below of my inspiration, Parrots, Parrots, Parrots....
I took these pictures from my deck , the parrots gather on the other side of my neighbors house, quite a distance. Thats why the pictures are so amazing to me..The Parrots are amazing...
They are after these red things in the tree, nuts or berries or something, anyway they take the red shell off and devour the inside...This is a residential area and not in the country, I think that is why it seems so unusual...
There are so many in some of the pictures and they are all busy having their meal...remember now they need their breakfast, lunch and dinner,...lol
When they arrive in the am there is about 50 of them going for the trees, it is something to see...
They are all so busy snacking and visiting....
This one is inspecting the goods.....you can see the red falling off...
I think he's taking a break....
Check out this landing...
wow he has a lot of goodies to choose from...
yummmmmmm...this one has a pretty blue head...
Look at those wings, I wish I could get even closer and they would be still for the pictures....
What ever these things are, they sure do love them...Yummmmmm
Thank you so much for visiting me and the incredible parrots...Hoped you liked the post as much as I enjoyed doing it...Please leave a comment, I always love hearing from you...If you are not already a follower please join me as the best is yet to come...

Phyllis- Wonderful tablescape- Those plates are amazing but the dinner plates are pretty pricey- Love the whole table-gorillas and all. You monkeyed around and did a great job with it!;>) When we lived in South Florida we had a whole family of parrots that lived in our backyard. They were amazing. Love yours-they are squawky loud, aren't they? Hope you have a good night- I am off to bed here- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of Kismet, I am amazed at all the perfect elements that you found to pull your Jungle Table together...not to even mention the spectacular parrots. This is completely majestic! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteWow, what amazing photos of the visiting parrots! Thanks for sharing their story! Your table in their honor is just incredible -- this should be in a magazine -- or at least pinned a bunch on Pinterest! King Kong adds the perfect touch, but I especially love how the table came together over time. SO clever to make the napkin rings that way!
ReplyDeleteWow, what amazing photos!!! We have parrots here in Australia and they are just so destructive. They damage the plants in the garden, especially the roses. My sister even had an electric fence erected to try to keep them out of the garden. This is mainly a problem on the farms - they don't seem nearly as bad in the towns. I adore your gorgeous salad plates. Such a lovely table.
ReplyDeleteSuzyq
It must be quite a sight when the parrots descend on the neighborhood. I'm sure they will continue to visit just to get a look at your fabulous tables.
ReplyDeleteDawna
Oh Phyl - you always amaze me with your wonderful table scapes. Had a couple parrots here but none of those trees so they moved on to your house.
ReplyDeleteIt is just amazing how you got everything to go together. You did a wonderful job.
Mar
Dear Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteWas this ever a fun table!! So imaginative, too~ I also enjoyed the photos and story about the parrots. We sure don't have anything like that happen in Minnesota :)
What a lovely table and I love that the parrots come to visit you every year!
ReplyDeletePhyllis, this is truly one of the most amazing posts that I have ever seen. Every little detail is just perfect and your napkin rings are so creative! I cannot imagine having Parrots flying into my neighborhood, as we get excited over all of our little humming birds each year. This was incredible and I adored all of the monkeys and parrots - what a collection!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis, Oh my goodness, the colors on your table are so vivid, pretty and just down right happy! The parrots are beautiful, however I'm deathly afraid of birds, I know they must be a site for you to see each year. Loved your table. fondly ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteHi Phillis. Thank you for the invitation. I am so glad I came to see all this exotic beauty. My goodness you are so talented and creative and a great story teller too... I love the narration from beginning to end. What a great find with those salad plates. Your table is a conversation piece. So much attention to detail. You truly thought of everything. I love all the various animals. Particularly King Kong. And those parrots are a rare beauty to see. How lucky you are to enjoy such a moment.
ReplyDeleteI truly enjoyed my visit.
Blessings,
Janet
Oh I love , love, love this, your jungle theme tablescape is fabulous and the real parrots are amazing. The jungle plates are the cutest things I have ever seen. Thanks so much for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI am enthralled with the thought that these beautiful things--so many of them--would be right there in a tree! It's fascinating! And your table is fun, fun, fun...every single detail, including the homemade napkin rings and pillow "covers." You thought of very detail. Great table! :) ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteGoodness me,what an interesting table setting. I have never seen one like it before, very creative. Thank you for visiting me,I am now following you too
ReplyDeleteI am just flabbergasted! I had no idea that parrots were so abundant in your area! A jungle, yes... Fullerton? nope, never would have guessed it! What great inspiration for your tablescape. You took it and ran with it and I am tickled with how it all came together. Lots of patterns that blend beautifully with each other! What a delightful way to spend the afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think you could top that adorable lady bug scape, but real parrots flying in, WoW! That is entirely crazy! You incorporated so many cool jungle things into your clever table, love all the brights and patterns! Cool idea with the placemats on the pillows too. If my SIL gave me a gorilla, tablescape or not, I'd be less than thrilled! Looks awesome though, makes your table!
ReplyDeleteJenna

Wow, love the jungle themed tablescape and I had no idea that parrots would just land on trees in a residential area by droves like that. What an amazing site.
ReplyDeleteI ADORE this table, Phyllis! It is all gorgeous. The parrotts in the trees are AMAZING!!!!!!!! I never knew they would come to a neighborhood like that, you are so fortunate. I love the gorilla centerpiece too and the PLATES are TDF, all of them! I have some animal print dishes too and have been planning a table using them. TRYING to wait til we have a DECK:). Have a great weekend and thanks again for sharing this. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLoved your tablescape. I wish I could get a closer look at the fruit but I think the tree is a crabapple tree. My daughter has one in her yard too!

ReplyDeleteI had to show this to my hubby. He took a quick look at your awesome tablescape and spent 5 minutes looking at the parrots. That is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. They are wonderful. I hope your neighbor doesn't mind the mess. We have egrets that nest near us and those neighbors hate it. Now parrots, I could love that. They are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou table is beyond awesome. I was gaga over last weeks table. You are truly an artist. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Have a great weekend, xo Ginger
Wow, what an amazingly fun table! I love everything about it...especially all the colors.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to watch the parrots, but am sure they are noisy as all get out.
Have a wonderful week, Phyllis...
Yes they are very noisy and each day when they for breakfast, then lunch then dinner, they only stay for about 20 min each meal...very noisy
DeleteWhat a WILD tablescape, Phyllis!! You really went all out & thought of so many cute ways to carry out the theme. I smiled when I read you used "gorilla glue" to make those napkin rings...how appropriate!
ReplyDeleteIf I ever run across some inexpensive Sakura jungle plates, I'll grab them for you. I can see why you snatched them up.
We used to get similar wild parrots in the trees in Venice, FL. They sure made a racket!! As I remember, they blended into the trees so well, it was hard to see them. You did a great job of capturing them with your camera.
What a fun table!!! I think this has got to be one of my very favorites and original indeed. Keep up the awesome work and boy would I love to have lunch with you one day. It would feel like a vacation!
ReplyDeleteI love your shots of the parrots and this tablescape is nothing but pure FUN! :) Thanks for visiting me and inviting me over! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the ladybug table and now you outdo it with the parrots.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed was the brass monkeys and wondered about them.
I live in a little tiny cottage so I can't amass all the wonderful table setting items you have, but you inspire me to do sweet table settings on a smaller scale.
Oh, your table setting with parrots it's amazing and the parrot china is to die for!!! You have the most adorable and fun dishes, like the ladybugs before this one! Thanks for your sweet and kind visit too! Enjoy your weekend.

Hi BJ, yes I still have the cat poster, however it is not up right, I do like to change then up a little (it's a curse) but I still have it and love it cause it looks like Tina and like you I love black and white too...
DeleteHow clever for the napkin rings.

Deleteso many beautiful pieces on your table scape. I feel like I just went on a day safari. I collect salt and pepper shakers and your parrot ones are a delight to collect. And those parrots on the tree are amazing, such beautiful creatures. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my visit.
Hi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment on my French Bed post. What a fabulous tablescape, truly tropical and very inventive. We also have those parrots living in our valley and they pass over the house each day squawking away. They briefly sit on the neighbors roof and torment my little dog Poppy, then they are on their way again. I don't think they are as big as the ones you get, nevertheless they still make quite a lot of noise.
I have added myself as a follower to your colourful blog :)
Lee
Wow, Phyllis, that's incredible. What a beautiful, colourful, interesting post. I would be in awe of those birds. Love your dishes. What a treat it would be to join you at that table. My favorite is the elephant so I would run to that seat. Thanks for stopping by. Deb
ReplyDeletePhyllis, those parrots are so beautiful! The nuts or berries they are eating are huge! I love your table and love King Kong in the center. lol He is definitely in charge. :) The bamboo flatware is so perfect for this table and those zebra plates and jungle salad plates are soooo cute! What a great table! You have to set this one each year when the parrots come through...it's perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great table - I especially like the zebra chargers! I can't believe you have so many "jungle related" dishes and accessories - how fun is that? And to top it all off, you even have the real parrots visiting! Just a perfect theme!
ReplyDeleteOh My, The table is wonderful, but the pictures of the parrots just made me smile. How wonderful to have them come visit each year. You really got some great shots! Dianne
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, what a great post. I can't believe all those parrots. How amazing is that? And let me tell you, you can set a table like no other. Beautiful. I love your blog.
