I have a pair of these pretty pink lamps,....I think they are called Fenton thumbprint lamps...They belonged to my mom, she passed away a few years ago and they came to me.. I can remember these lamps were always on her fireplace mantle, one on each end... When you turn them on ...wow...everyone looks so pretty in pink light..it makes you want to create a whole room in pink...
The cream colored eyelet napkins are from Pier 1 and are about a year old, I love to pair them up with with bright colors...
I love to use the faux food in the tablescapes, especially the chocolate dipped berries...
So sweet the little Valentine plates...
I need to have the lamps rewired at the lamp store, there should be a light that goes on in the middle globe, just not sure how to make that turn on...I am afraid of breaking the glass, so I think I will let the lamp man take care of that....until then I thought they would be perfect for a little Valentine fun....
Of course if you are a follower of this blog you remember the coffee tea set....it is so fun to use in the photos...I mean really, what doesn't look good with silver...in some of the pictures I changed the smaller plates with some sweet heart plates, seems everything goes with pink and red...
The pretty red stem glasses are Lenox , the napkins are the only thing I purchased new this year...loved the little heart checks...they were at TJMaxx..
I love the little Valentine plates, so sweet...I saw them I think last year on Betweennapsontheporch.net, Susan's friend Marie had them at her house and I just adored them...I found them on Ebay for 2.25 each, what a deal, when I first looked it was 4 plates for 40.00...but after Valentines Day, there they were, what a deal...sure does remind you of the Valentine card exchange at school, what ever happened to that....wow, now that is a closeup...
The chargers are from the Maryland Company...purchased about 2 years ago...
The lamp glass does look like big thumbprints, don't you think? Such a clever name...I know the lamp design doesn't quite go with the decor in my house, but they sure fun on this Valentine's Day...I may just bring them out more often...I know it is still light out but I couldn't wait to take some pictures of the table with the lamps on and off...I have never been good at evening pictures, you know it always looks like someone turned off the lights...I do need to turn the Pretty Pink Lamps..
I think sometime I might just take the top globes off and use them as covers for votive candles on an intimate little romantic tablescape, wow wouldn't that be a glowing pink table....
Thank you to Marie and Susan for the great inspiration of the Valentine Card plates...
I have used that faux strawberry cake in so many posts...it has held up over the years......
Thank you for stopping by, please leave a comment, I love to see them and I read them all...If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will answer...as always I hope this tablescape has inspired you to make a little romantic table for your Valentines....

Hi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I always look forward to seeing your creative, beautiful and festive decorating! You are always such a lovely inspiration and brighten my week!
Warm Hugs,
Jemma
I never would have thought the food was faux! Your table looks so festive.
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
Your tablescape is amazing. Your have attended to every detail. I was impressed by your dipped strawberries. You could have fooled me they were faux because they look very real. Such darling valentine plates. Yes, they do remind me of exchanging valentines in school. Your napkins, special lamps, flowers, EVERYTHING looks great!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Phyl, everything looks wonderful. I love the lamps - didn't know that you had those. Your tablescape is outstanding - every detail is perfect. Each post is better than the last one.
ReplyDeleteMary
Hi Phyllis...everything is just adorable but those lamps are fantastic. I have never seen any I like more than those! I loved the delicately stemmed glasses too. So sweet. Viewing blogs..is better than any magazine.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe story that went along with the lamps was wonderful..thank you for sharing it.
The lamps are wonderful Phyllis! They are perfect with your retro plates, and sweet new napkins! Your table is sooo cute, just Valentine perfect!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteThis tablescape is absolutely beautiful! The Fenton lamps are perfect for Valentine's Day and also a wonderful way to remember your Mom as well as your childhood (I bet you can use them again for Spring/Easter or Mother's Day tablescaping). I love your decorating style and blog! It's nice to see not everything has to be French-inspired or grain sacked!
Thanks so much, I agree, althrough I do love the french inspired and grain sacked, the look is getting a little worn...lol
DeleteWhat a precious Valentine's tablescape! Your cranberry glass lamps are beautiful. I have several pieces of cranberry glass in our parlor and they just make me happy to look at them.
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape is so pretty! I absolutely love those cranberry glass lamps, gorgeous! That's so nice that you them, I know they will always be a treasure to you since they belonged to your dear mother.
Have a great weekend,
Gina
I do hope you are enjoying your Cali weather! We are still housebound. Yes, in Alabama we have been snowed/iced in. You have outdone yourself!
ReplyDeleteBTW, this comment box ate my first two comments!
The table is so festive and inviting! Love all the red & white with silver. How nice that you have your mother's lamps. It's fun to collect dishes and linens from various sources to use on your table, right? Darling luncheon plates! :)
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Marie's pretty Valentine's Day plates last year too. I looked and looked for them. I had my Ebay set to email any heart plates that came up to me. My loss, your wonderful gain. Your table is beautiful, and I do love your mother's pink lamps for this table. Old fashioned can be very good.
ReplyDeleteYour table is very festive & romantic! I love all the red, pink & white. The white eyelet napkins are pretty. I do love eyelet! I especially love your lamps. I would put them somewhere in my house. I say, put in your house what you love and they will look wonderful! It looks like you had fun decorating this table. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteBlessings My Friend,
Every element of this table is gorgeous. You have used those lamps perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, colourful, warm and inviting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lamps. I have been into antiques for about 6 years now and love anything old like that. The lamps are absolutely gorgeous. I wish I would have kept things that my mom had old. Now I could kick myself in the butt for not keeping them. regrets. They are the worse.
ReplyDeleteI am always looking forward to your holiday decore. I decorated my table sometime last week and posted the pictures in my blog. Mine is not as beautiful as yours, but for now it will have to do until I find some more things to add to the table, like some red or pink chargers. Than you for sharing and for your inspiration. Ana
Beautiful table and your mom's lamps are fabulous. Faux food is fun...when I worked in a design studio we would buy lots of things from a company called Bard. We would use it in vignettes, much as you have. I admire your talent and creativity.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I think the Valentine exchange probably got booted when they started kicking little kids out of school for nonsensical "sexual harassment." It's so pitiful that the things we were able to freely enjoy as children have been politicized to death.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really, really fun table with so much neat stuff to take in!!! The thumbprint lamps are perhaps my favorite. I can only imagine what a pretty pink glow they produce. EVERYBODY looks good in a pink glow! I often switch out my light bulbs in key rooms when we have guests over so that a soft pink hue bathes the room. It's subtle, but very effective.
I'm a big lover of the faux food for tablescaping, too. If I don't have the real deal on hand or there's no time to prepare something appropriate, out comes the faux food! I have boxes and boxes of it. Family and friends know to ASK FIRST before eating anything in our house or they might otherwise be in line for a trip to the dentist! :-)
You got one heck of a deal on those plates!!! Pays to wait until the end of the given season, doesn't it?
Thank you for sharing this fun and very, very pretty table with us all!!! I hope you have a relaxing weekend and, if you're into it, enjoy the Super Bowl. Take care!
I would have never thought about using Faux food for tablescapes. Well, since I'm not a blogger, that tells me what I don't know. Where do you buy the faux food and how do you store it until you go to use it? What a terrific idea..now that we've all seen yours, will we be looking at blogs for such or wonder if the food in it is real? I love the red/white check napkins; do you remember where you bought them? Do they have little hearts on them? Love the cranberry glass lamps..they are beautiful!
DeleteMichaels does have some fruits and veggies which I love for photos in kitchen...other faux food can be found on line just google faux food for photo shoots...the napkins are from Home Goods and yes they do have red hearts on them...Sometimes when you are doing tablescapes they can look kind of flat kind of like a dish sale...so when you add napkin rings napkins, a little wine, something in the water glasses or some faux sweets (if you don't have any real around) really make the table come to life...of course if you setting the table for your real function, just use your real food....hope this helps thanks for the wonderful comments...phyllis
DeleteVery pretty! I really like those lamps! I also like the eyelet napkins, would love to find those, haven't been to Pier 1 in a long time tho. Those plates are adorable! The faux food looks real! Lovely Valentine tablescape!

DeletePhyllis, you are a girl after my own heart! Love, love this tablescape! I have some plates with valentine images on them as well. Not the same, but so similar. I bought them years ago at T.J. Maxx. Still love them! I too use lots of faux food for Valentines. Sweet, but doesn't add any extra calories. lol! The lamps are gorgeous and perfect with this setting. I passed up some ruffled red napkins by Pottery Barn at a discount store the other day and now I am kicking myself. Thanks for sharing with SYC. I will be featuring you this week.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
