V.I.P. HORS D' OEUVRE PARTY

HOUSE SITTERS PRESENTATION # 2

I hope you didn't miss the first day of our house sitting, if you did it is directly under this post....there will be A total of three....
I am so excited, the party is tonight and I have a million things to prepare ...I have been so busy I haven't had time to eat, I hope I will survive until the guests arrive...I am as thin as a rail now....
I know they will love the spider bites, I have served them before, the stuffed flies are always a hit, crickets of course and some other wonderful surprises, marinated mice is one of my favorites...anyone for a taste?
It is so hard to read the tiny words in this old book, even with glasses, I hope I got the measurements right...
The stuffed flies are just so juicy, I have to stop snacking and get busy cooking......nom nom nom
It is hard to keep the critters in the bowl, I always like them as fresh as possible for my guests, they are Royalty you know...Get off my hand and get in that bowl .....
Oh, I have to tell you, you don't know what you are missin, these imported marinated mice are so wonderful...I wish I could share the recipe..but I promised I would take it to my grave....they are just bite size....ahhhh
You are lucky you are a domestic mouse or you would be in this bowl with them...Domestic critters are not eatable, to tough and chewy....This is Muffin, he travels with us to visit his cousins here....
Oh the spider bites are perfect as usual, they are my regular stand by, crunchy and a little salty....
I can't believe I am finished and all I have to do is get dressed and the drinks will be served...yay
The hor d'oeuvres turned out so perfect, I know they are going to be a  hit...
The spider bites are yummy..
The house critters have all ready started nibbling, where are your manners, so hard to train them...
These stuffed flies are so plump and juicy, a little red peppery sauce is the perfect touch...
The sauteed mantis is the tastiest dish and one of the Counts favorites, they are harvested from the banks of the old ironside river in Slavokia...The entire township runs for the river in hopes of catching a few...it is something to see....we call them crispy triggers....
Get out of there, guests are first...those mantis are very expensive......

Thats better Muffin, such a good little critter, go along now...before someone mistakes you for a mouse bite.

The twins stopped in to say good night before bed, "finish those eyeball suckers kids"
We have never been able to do anything with that cowlick...oh well who cares when you have those adorable green eyes.....
Sticky, really sticks to your ribs, but sooo good....I know you are thinkin she looks just like her mother....
Tomorrow is a big day at the pool and then I am preparing a beautiful dinner..for their last night here.
Everyone loves my hat, I had friends help me pick it out....it's perfect, don't you think....
The Countess brought her critter, Sir Ben, he is always sitting on her shoulder.  I think he waits for the leftovers....who wouldn't..I think thats why he is so fat....
Go on to bed kids, it's grown up time....tomorrow you can try to float again in the pool ...yay
Oh yes Countess I use to have a pet bat as well...his name was man, we used to call him bat man..
he he he, one of the neighborhood ghouls ate him...such a pity

The Countess  seems to be lovin the  hor d'oeuvres..."oh my dear Agatha, these snakes are so delicious, slippery but so tasty"
The Count is such a wonderful story teller, as long as he doesn't have to much to drink..."get me another scotch my dear"..seems to be in the middle of each story...
Andrew also loves a good cigar, like the Count, guess I will have to open a window..I think I'll have a Crown Royal.....seems so fitting..
The Count was given that medallion by a Russian Czar for his efforts in men's couture for the thinner man....ohhhhh
Excuse me Count, did you just drop that Centipede hors d on Phyllis's new couch???????she is gonna kill us ... and I don't think I could go through that again.......
Oh, the Countess has the most boo tiful jewels, do you see them, I am just waiting around for them to fall off those bony fingers....lol...she did not even put them on until she arrived, guess she thought they would fall off in the car....
You can tell the Countess is feeling a little buzz, I can tell her head is bobbin along with the music...she is gonna stand up and take the floor any minute with her rendition of Lady GaGa, you go girl...
Oh Count, your stories are just so wonderful, love hearing about the old country and all the scary goolie relatives in the old castle...ahhhh the homeland..the acres of graveyards, the ghosts flying through the rooms when the moon is out oh  and the howls in the misty night, oh I miss the homeland.
Every shot my mouth is full of food, have you noticed, oh well, I'm a foodie..
Everyone is getting a little tipsy, good thing they are spending the night...is this room swaying???
Andrew, what happened to those pumpkins for the buffet...hummmmmmm
Brrrrrp, Oh excuse me, I am feeling so bloated I can't eat another bite,..."Oh Countess your so frail like a bag of bones, please have just one more spider bite before bed...or you will be skulking around looking for them when we are sound asleep...
Don't worry folks, these hors d won't go to waste, the house critters will be on them so fast it will make your skull spin....
Count DEAR, I believe it is time for us to retire to the sleeping quarters, or what ever they call that box we sleep in...you've had enough to drink....you know you need to watch your liver!!!!!.I can see it from here...
Yes I know Andrew you can't hold your liquor, I mean you literally can't hold your liquor!!!!!
Oh Agatha you can always see right through people...he he he
Oh I am so pleased the party has gone so well, I do have to say the Count and Countess love their cocktails....and thats the kind of house guest we love...
Crunch crunch crunch crunch....gulp gulp gulp....
I don't think I can eat another bite, well maybe just one before I explode and split a rib....

Thank you Andrew for bringing in the pumpkins, I love the color...
She is stunning isn't she, even with her mouth full the Countess is so exotic....no wonder she has her own castle..
I hope nothing leaks out on that couch...
Right this way folks and I will show you to your room...what a wonderful evening...
"Yes Sir Ben, we are sleepy....off to bed we go....

The perfect ending to the perfect evening....ahhhh this feels great...
What a great party Agatha...My bones are aching honey...tomorrow is another day...Thanks everyone for stopping by for a visit and leaving a comment...Love to hear from you  and don't forget the last episode will be in a few days where pictures of the Grand Dinner Party will be the last meal for us as house sitters....we all have to get back to the home land before Halloween, it is a very important time for us and them too...at the end of the last post there will be a listing of all the diy items and where everything was purchased in case you are inspired to celebrate Halloween   in your own spooky way   betweennapsontheporch  romantichome   astrollthrulife   thededicatedhouse   thetablescaper  thriftydecorchick

  14. Oh Phyllis, your imagination knows no bounds! I really thought from your last post, the house guests, that you really were going on an extended vacation and wanted to do one over the top labor intensive blog to leave us with for the Halloween season! And now you've done another fabulous post with detail after detail, such an incredibly humorous cocktail party! And the promise of another skeletal adventure to come! You really should combine your 3 posts and publish a Halloween book, I know it would be wildly popular! You make your skeleton characters come to life, with all their different personalities and quirks. Your edibles are positively repulsive {in a good way!} and if I was your husband, I would be nervous about my next meal!!
Thanks for inviting me to your cocktail party!

You are obviously a gourmet cook, and I apologize that I wasn't feeling well enough to taste your treats. I know you have worked hard to make this party fabulous, and it has been worth it. The Countess is so elegant, and I'm sure the Count will share even more of his deathly stories when we dine with them. I'm so sorry to have walked in on you and Andrew relaxing in the tub. I may have nightmares about it. I hope you can get the spot off of Phyllis' sofa before she comes home, because I want you to be invited back to house sit next year.
