THE GRAND DINNER GALA CELEBRATION

HOUSE SITTERS PRESENTATION #3  FINALE
I've pulled out my cook book I brought from the old country, so boo tiful and 100 scary years old, I always have to brush the cob webs off, darn those cobs, they are everywhere...I have got to decide the menu for tomorrow nights dinner before I go to bed...what will we have?  I had to put back on my chef clothes to give me inspiration...
" Yes Muffin, you are right thats perfect, I think our guests will love the mixed grill", so they can have a choice...kisses for you muffin, now get off my shoulder before you fall through."
Ahhh the mixed grill,  lightly baked brain, sauteed liver or grilled heart with garlic and Fresh Green onions...I'm so glad we all agree, now I can go to bed....I can hear Andrew snoring away like he was howling at the moon...aohhhhhhhh..they all sound like a pack of wolves in there...yikes!!!!
Our guests are gone for the day, they are taking a tour of all the wonderful things this town has to offer, Andrew will show them the Antwell Stone Yard, The Fulton Bone Yard..and of course the Museum of Terror, you know,  just all the perfect places....
Yummy yum yum, these are such premium cuts, I hope our guests appreciate the quality cuts of these meats, no matter which one they choose.....
.
Who wouldn't love the fresh liver, sauteed in garlic......
Cooking can be messy," Splat" squish. plop" it's a good thing we all love it just warmed...ahhh  and still juicy...
"No Muffin, take your little friend and go, no fresh brains for you....not even a sticky  lick...

Can you just smell this fresh meat, ahhh makes my mouth water, "I know, you too."Everyone is home and getting dressed for dinner...
Ahh our guests are dressed for dinner..:"oh Countess you look stunning, with that beautiful flower brooch in your hair, is it  from your family jewels?"....I see it even has it's own little body guard that sits beside the stone...I hadn't counted on another guest, oh well...   Is she wearing the smooookey eye too....hummmmmm...
Ohhhhh there seems to be a mist in the air,  an eerie kind of mist, just like the mist in the air of Transylvania...a spooky moist thickness surrounds us everywhere..I thought I heard the howling of wolves in the distance but Andrew tells me it's just Tina, that scary walking fury hors d'oeuvre they keep as a pet....worrisome!!!
Tonight all you will hear is giggles and yelps from some tipsy  goulie ghouls....the sounds of a good night...
I am wearing my broach in my hair too.......
Everyone seems to be loving the starter dish, stuffed flies, marinated thickworm, peppery red blood sauce and I have already eaten the marinated imported mouse.....Ben has it all over his face...you see...I told you he was always around her for the snacks....he is such a fatso......
The count is telling another funny story and the Countess is his biggest fan...she just laughs and laughs and laughs....."and then the ghouls and goblins came running through the graveyard, blood curdling screams then scare people to death"...He He He.. thats one thing we don't have to worry about..."Oh Count I love this story, "  ♥
" My dear you have outdone yourself, this looks divine,...you have to catch them before they crawl off the plate."
Those triggers are everybodys favorite, be careful cause they will start nibbling on the entree...... ok dive in everyone.....
"Yes Muffin, there is always some for you my pet

Phyllis made these napkin rings and napkins, they are so beautiful, they were in the buffet drawer, I am sure she will not mind if we use them.......
The fun witch hats were in the closet, with their large black overcoats, we will be sure to put them back when we  finish our celebration...
We get to put them on soon....I'm so excited......I think I"m  drooling.......
Oh my gosh, would you look at this dessert it is absolutely  boo tiful...My dear I  must have the recipe for this beauty...
Oh so glad you love the presentation..
I am going to go check on the twins and make sure they are not sleeping under the bed again or in the drawers...they are such rascals, they can fit in anywhere...
"Oh Andrew you are just so funny I could just give you a great big bite...He He He."
"Slow down Countess, your letting those cocktails get the best of you, you must give them time to soak in or your gonna make a mess on these chairs...oh nooooo."
"Count is there something in your mouse-tache, watch out it's moving, Oh there,  it crawled out"
He He He thats the thing about mouse-taches, they are like a catch all, just like Sir Ben...hahahahah
I keep leaning toward the candle light, who was it that said we all look better in candle light, well I am taking no chances...it makes my bones look like polished ivory...
I have been using a special polish on my bones, I found it  in the cupboard, it is called Pledge....I must find out where Phyllis buys this and get me some to take home...smells so lemony too.....
woooo I think I am getting a little woozy....
It's time for our hats.......and more drinks...
Our hats are so sweet...
My face is getting so red, could it be one of the ingredients in my drink....maybe that snake extract....naaaaaaa
"Yes, thank you I would love another cock-tail with my dessert......
"Oh thank you Count, it, is a lovely neck-lace, it is made by goblins on the Mont Blanc river from the vertebra of the wombat spine....
It has been such fun entertaining them, I will be sad to see them leave...I am happy they are enjoying  the dessert cocktail and the Cognac muffin fluff with the candied spider garnish...
This drink is delish my dear, it is wolf's blood with snake extract and of course the Russian vodka, love the crushed goat nails around the rim of the glass, it just adds a little crunch to the drink....
A toast to you one and all, we are here to say goodbye to you..The Count and Countess will be leaving in the morning and we will be going home tomorrow night....This is the last edition of the three part series of Agatha and Andrew and the twins house sitting ,swimming, resting, sight seeing, reading, cooking and entertaining royalty...Halloween awaits all of us so we will say goodbye for now and we loved meeting you.

This Halloween presentation has been posted  early enough to perhaps inspire you to go above and beyond and have some fun for your celebration....Phyllis will be back for her usual posting and I hope we can come back again...in the mean time watch out for the bats, black cats and things that go bump in the night......Agatha  PS  " I hope she invites us back  next year, what fun"

  7. You've done it again! I must say, I have trouble reading your ghastly food descriptions! And that meat, thank goodness it's a prop, I was worried you made it! Yikes! Everything is unbelievably creepy and crawly and scary!! Again, your attention to detail knows no bounds! I can't believe your sources, I was sure you spent at fortune at Grandin Road, they have the greatest Halloween stuff. Very clever and thrifty to boot! I am going to show these to my husband, we used to throw lavish Halloween parties, once he made a bed of nails~our attorney was a guest and he suggested we get rid of it promptly! Ha! Thanks for getting us all in the spirit early, and for sharing so many gruesome ideas!

  9. I do believe there was more than one extra guest for your soiree. Those old country cookbooks are the best. Stick to your ribs entres, not just food that flows straight through you. Although the drinks seemed to be flowing freely!

I am sure Phyllis will come home to a very tidy house, and unless she reads this, have no idea of how much fun you all had. Travel safely! The moon is no longer full.

  16. Oh Agatha, you sure know how to throw a par-tay! The dinner table is stunning, and I love that you could play with the centerpiece after you had a few drinks. You and the Countess look so elegant, and everyone's smiles are a sure sign that the Count's stories are entertaining all of you. I can see that you love your pets. I hope you don't leave any behind for Phyllis to find. I'm sorry that I just became a Vegan today (about the time I arrived at Phyllis' house and saw you preparing dinner), so I couldn't sample any of your dinner. Your cookbook looks like a real heirloom. I hope Phyllis has had as much fun on her trip as I've had reading your blog posts! You should consider starting your own blog. I don't know how you type with those boney fingers. Thanks to all of your family and to the count and countess for the laughs you have all provided while you were house sitting in Phyllis' beautiful home. It's been a real treat. laurie

  48. Phyllis,
What a charming post. It is all so spooky and just right for the season. Look at those cute skeletons. I really like the ones with the jewel brooches in their hair. The table setting is so festive with the hats and the black candles and the drinks. I think your table setting should be displayed in a magazine - that's how fabulous it is.

    Happy October, Phyllis.
